Jared Reston’s Heroic History

In 2008, Reston’s life changed forever when he was off-duty and stopped two shoplifters. The criminals shot Reston seven times resulting in several months of recovery in the hospital. Because of his heroic act, he was honored and decorated with several awards. He received The State of Florida Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, Museum National Officer of the Year, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Officer of the Year, is in the National Police Hall of Fame, and was given the Medal of Valor awarded by Vice President Joe Biden.

After this incident, Reston retired from the Jacksonville Police Department and used his first-hand combat experience to start Reston Group Critical Solutions. This combat training gives others the tools they need to survive and provides education on marksmanship and defense tactics. Reston works hard to ensure his fellow officers are prepared while out on the line of duty.
